Leadership and Management MSN graduate program director Sandra J. Galura has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry in both clinical and non-clinical acute care leadership roles. This experience has informed her program of research, which focuses on the nursing workforce, including the challenges faced by frontline and interim nurse managers. Galura has received extramural grant awards supporting studies examining the role of interim nurse manager and the role of the perioperative manager in quality improvement, and her findings have been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at conferences at the local, state and national level. In recognition of her research accomplishments, she received the Early Careerist Award from the Association of Leadership Science in Nursing (ALSN). Galura is a regular contributor to the “Continuing the Conversation” feature of Nursing Administration Quarterly and serves as a peer reviewer for several journals. Her extensive service on medical mission trips to Mexico, Peru, Ethiopia and the Philippines has been recognized by the UCF College of Nursing Alumni Chapter with an award for Outstanding Community Service.
