Globally endorsed by INACSL. Internationally accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.

A team of worldwide experts at the helm, including certified healthcare simulation educators and operations specialist (CHSE-A, CHSE, and CHSOS-A). An optimal location in a hotbed of healthcare activity.

These are just some of the reasons why the University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Nursing is leading the way in healthcare simulation, making a global impact, and ensuring a healthier future for all.

And there’s still more potential to unleash.

Simulation Accreditation and Endorsement

At the Center of Activity

UCF’s  Simulation, Technology, Innovation and Modeling (STIM) Center attracts visitors from around the world to learn from its best practices in operations and simulation experiences.

In addition, UCF’s experts are sought-after for their knowledge and currently working with the University of the Bahamas with a study abroad experience for students related to simulation.

The state-of-the-art STIM Center provides more than 7,500 contact hours annually in invaluable, evidence-based simulation experiences to prepare nursing students for clinical practice.

To prepare future experts in the emerging field of healthcare simulation, UCF created Florida’s first – and one of only a few nationwide – interdisciplinary healthcare simulation graduate programs. Learn more and apply today.

Advancing Science and Research

Researchers at UCF are not only answering how to best teach simulation, by evolving the evidence in evidence-based education, but creating and advancing the science and technology of simulation.

Experts are collaborating in research across disciplines, not only in healthcare but in computer science and engineering, to determine the best technologies and applications to ensure the best patient outcomes. These included creating a patented physical virtual patient bed, AR/XR/VR experiences, and hologram technology simulations.

UCF is also leading the way in using simulation experiences to teach cultural congruence to nursing students and address healthcare disparities.

Listen to Desiree A. Díaz, undergraduate simulation coordinator, share how UCF is leading the charge in virtual reality education, how teaching students about cultural congruence can remove preconceived notions in patients and how simulation technology is paving the way for the future of nursing.

Building Education for the Future

UCF’s College of Nursing continues to blaze a trail of excellence in education. With transformational state funding and private support, UCF is building the College of Nursing for the future.

The new, permanent home in Orlando’s Medical City, a hub of healthcare innovation, UCF will unleash its potential to revolutionize healthcare education, research and practice to benefit a global community.

Inside the building will be nearly three times the current lab space, including dedicated space for virtual reality education.

In addition to expanding the facilities, we’re expanding our team. Learn more about current opportunities.
