Lecturer Sandra Kirkland served for 15 years in Veterans Affairs medical centers, serving as a family nurse practitioner and chief nurse for mental health at facilities in Tennessee and Florida, and a nurse executive for the VA Medical Center in Alexandria, Louisiana. Broadly experienced in mental health, family medicine, gerontology, wound care, nurse education and leadership, Kirkland has taught for more than two decades and published her work in peer-reviewed journals on topics ranging from ostomy care to cost containment.
