Faculty

Instructor Kate Dorminy is a dual alumna of the UCF College of Nursing and holds professional certifications in Progressive Care by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, Nurse Professional Development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) certification from the National League for Nursing (NLN). She started at UCF College of Nursing in 2019 and served as the undergraduate clinical coordinator until 2026. Currently she is a fulltime teaching faculty and co-advisor for the Student Nurse Association Orlando chapter. Prior to her academic role at UCF, Dorminy worked for over a decade in nursing in Central Florida from critical care to nursing education and leadership. Her expertise is in surgical care, shared governance, accreditation preparedness, and graduate nurse program development and implementation. Deeply committed to community service, she is active in numerous nursing organizations — notably as past-president of the Metropolitan Orlando Chapter of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and Past Chair of the UCF College of Nursing Alumni Chapter Board. Her passion is mentoring future Knight Nurses.
