Faculty

Frances Armstrong, clinical assistant professor and graduate simulation coordinator at UCF’s College of Nursing, is a dual-certified adult-gerontology acute care and primary care nurse practitioner with a passion for critical care. As a nurse practitioner, she has a diverse clinical background including sleep medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care. She continues to maintains a clinical practice in critical care medicine in addition to her academic appointments at UCF where she educates doctoral students in the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner DNP track and leads simulation-based education efforts for graduate students. As a certified healthcare simulation educator, Armstrong focuses her scholarship on the integration of simulation-based education, artificial intelligence, immersive technologies, and competency-based assessment to improve healthcare education and clinical decision-making. Her research interests also include development of advanced clinical reasoning, interprofessional education, and innovative approaches to preparing learners for complex clinical environments.
