Senior Lecturer Chaka Brittain is a nurse practitioner, educator and scholar whose work focuses on hospice and palliative care, serious illness communication and culturally responsive end-of-life care. Her scholarship explores topics including cultural humility, spirituality in healthcare, advance care planning, and improving communication between clinicians, patients and families facing complex medical decisions. She has presented her work at regional, national and international conferences and has published on end-of-life communication and nursing practice. Brittain maintains an active clinical practice in hospice and palliative care, providing care for patients with serious illness, while translating real-world clinical experiences into teaching, scholarship and service. She is committed to advancing evidence-based practice, mentoring future nurses and nurse practitioners, and promoting compassionate, patient-centered care through education, research and community engagement.
