National Healthcare Simulation Week is Sept. 16-20

From using a high-fidelity mannequin to learn how to provide better care for transgender patients to augmented reality (AR) to simulate a patient’s parents so students can practice breaking bad news to loved ones, healthcare simulation is changing the way students and professionals learn, and improving patient care.

UCF College of Nursing is a leader in this innovative field with the state’s first healthcare simulation graduate program, and a team of some of the world’s foremost healthcare simulation experts and internationally recognized researchers.

To increase awareness of the importance of healthcare simulation, UCF College of Nursing is joining simulation centers across the globe in the third annual Healthcare Simulation Week. The week is sponsored by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, an international community of more than 4,000 physicians, nurses, technologists, professors and other specialists advocating and implementing healthcare simulation in education, practice and research.

Planned events at the college include:

  • Mon., Sept. 16, SIM Love

“Healthcare simulation continues to grow at an extraordinary rate,” said Society for Simulation in Healthcare president KT Waxman, DNP, MBA, RN, CNL, CENP, CHSE, FAAN, FSSH. “An increasing number of professionals in the healthcare industry are waking up to simulation’s ability to help individuals and organizations improve patient care, which is so great to witness. We want to celebrate both that increased role and all healthcare simulation professionals this week.”

Follow along using the hashtag #HcSimWeek19 from Sept. 16-20 on the UCF College of Nursing’s Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts to see healthcare simulation in action.
