Azizeh K. Sowan is the chair of the Department of Nursing Practice and professor at the UCF College of Nursing. A nationally renowned health informatics expert with a focus on quality and safety indicators, Sowan has held several national safety consulting roles and has been an invited member on several national initiatives. In addition to her degrees, she holds a Six Sigma Black Belt, and is certified in Team STEPPS, and Quality Matters. Her research, which has been presented and published widely, seeks to transform healthcare environments by improving safety and quality of care through the optimization of design, usability and safety of IT systems and utilizing clinical data to track trends.
